You have reached the web site for Thomae Lumber & Truss, part of the Knecht/Mead Lumber family of stores.  Thomae Lumber was founded in 1982 by Paul Thomae, growing to include our lumber yard in Laurel, as well as a lumber yard and truss plant at its Billings, Montana location.

Paul elected to sell his operation to Knecht in 2006.  Our mission today is staying committed to the principles that Paul and his team formed over 30 years ago, that being providing top quality products, outstanding service and great overall value. Mead/Knecht family has 42 lumberyards, hardware stores and millwork and truss facilities in 7 Midwestern states. Today, the Mead/Knecht family of stores includes: Mead Lumber, Knecht Home Centers, Thomae Lumber and Truss, Black Hills Truss, Great Plains Countertop and Ace Hardware’s in Canon City, Sheridan, and Rapid City. In addition to our ownership, we have over 750 associates who are committed to making Thomae Lumber & Truss, Mead Lumber and Knecht Home Center our customer’s first choice for lumber, building materials, hardware, and trusses
