Knecht is proud to be known as the “helpful hometown home center” in our region. Our service traditions go back to 1928, when John Knecht opened his first lumber store in Rapid City, South Dakota. Knecht has expanded the company over eight decades, in parallel with the growth of the Black Hills area. Always civic-minded, the Knechts have been pillars of the community during good times and bad. For example, they provided equipment and labor to help neighbors after the historic ’72 flood. We have always done whatever it takes to help our customers.
